This year, the Jewish Federation is offering a very special program. It is intended to support “First-Time Campers” attending Jewish overnight summer camp for 12 or more days. Grades 2-3 are only required to attend for 1 week. Other requirements include:
- Washington State residents only
- Entering grades 2-10 in the fall of 2014
- Not attending Jewish day school
- Attending one of the 150-plus camps approved by the Federation for Jewish Camp
For more information and to apply for the OHC Grant, go to the Federation’s web site at First Time.
In addition, CKS provides a “campership” for families who qualify for the Federation’s “Needs-Based” Scholarships. To qualify, you need to notify CKS via email to firstname.lastname@example.org that you have applied to the Federation for financial aid and request CKS campership funds.
The CKS board will review your request. No financial information is requested by CKS. Deadline for the CKS campership is Tuesday, February 11, 2014. Deadline for the Federation is Friday, March 7, 2014. To apply to the Federation, please see the information below.

Camp provides a meaningful (and fun!) Jewish experience for our youth, and as a community we are committed to having it be accessible to everyone. Please consider making a donation to the Sammy Turkheimer Youth Development Fund at Congregation Kol Shalom to support families who may need assistance in paying for camp, so that our kids can continue to attend the excellent Jewish camps in our area.
Please note that Sarah Moody will be visiting our Religious School on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 11:15am to speak with our parents about Camp Kalsman. This is a great opportunity to see what Kalsman offers to our kids. Please plan to attend.
