Sometimes small packages can make big things happen.
CKS member Sam Bloom will become a Bar Mitzvah on May 24. Sam is a busy kid between school, studying for his Bar Mitzvah, activities, and just being a kid. But what he doesn’t have time for is dwelling on having Crohn’s Disease. Diagnosed when he was 9, and after enduring multiple surgeries and ongoing treatments, Sam has made it a personal goal to get involved in the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation and has been honored with the title of 2014 Seattle Take Steps Honored Hero.
He will be making appearances around the Puget Sound to motivate others. The Take Steps Fundraising Walk will take place on June 7 in Seattle. Sam was the first person to hit the $1000 mark and is still going strong.
His team name is “Team Inside Job” after the Mike McCready / Pearl Jam song. Sam met Mike, a fellow Crohn’s patient, last year at Camp Oasis, a camp for kids with Crohn’s and Colitis, and he has been a big role model for Sam.
